Traffic changes at Perth - March 2020
30 March 2020
The Perth Link Roads project is ahead of schedule, on track to be finished this year instead of in 2021 as originally scheduled.
If you have been travelling near Perth lately, you will have noticed changed traffic conditions during the staged opening of a new section of the Midland Highway.
Watch out for more traffic changes near Perth in late March/early April, weather permitting.
We’re opening the second leg of the new highway to eastbound traffic, travelling from Longford toward Perth.
If you are travelling on Illawarra Road from Longford you will need to use the new southern roundabout to access Perth. Traffic from Longford wanting to travel north towards Launceston will also temporarily need to take this route until the northern access link road opens.
It will no longer be possible to connect to Youl Road or Drummond Street from Illawarra Road. The section of Illawarra Road just past the intersection with Youl/Drummond Street has been closed, and will become a cul-de-sac for local access only.
There will be a reduced speed limit and prominent signage to give everyone time to adjust to the changes. Please approach the area with caution, and follow directions given by traffic controllers and signs.
Please slow down, approach with caution and watch out for directional signage.
