Traffic Changes at Devon Hills
05 December 2019
The Perth Link Roads project is ahead of schedule, on track to be finished next year, instead of in 2021 as originally scheduled.
The single biggest project in the Midland Highway 10 Year Action Plan, the Perth Link Roads project is the final link in a dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction) along the Midland Highway, from Launceston to the south of Perth, Tasmania.
With so much happening, there will be some big changes to traffic in the next few months.
In the first half of December* we'll start works on the two northern roundabouts.
This means that north and southbound traffic will be diverted, in stages, through the first of the two roundabouts, to let us finish work on the second roundabout. This diversion will be in place until March 2020.
We will also be closing the southern end of Old Midland Highway to traffic until March 2020. The road will be closed just south of the entrance to Gibbet Hill Rise, so residents of Gibbet Hill Rise and Killoch Lodge will have to travel north to the intersection of Devon Hills Road to join the main highway. The shared pathway will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians.
In the second half of December*, there will be some minor traffic diversions on Illawarra Road, east of Pateena Road, so we can finish works to make the road wider.
There will be a reduced speed limit to give road users time to adjust to the new conditions.
The exact dates of these changed traffic conditions will be subject to weather and other conditions, so please approach the area with caution, and follow directions given by traffic controllers, electronic message boards, and roadwork signs.
